What we collect

When you use the free scanner: nothing. Scan history lives on your device only.

When you start a trial or pay: your email address, payment confirmation from Stripe (we never see your card details), and the scan history you choose to sync from the app.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with food companies or advertisers. We never will.

How we use it

Your email is used to send you the newsletter you signed up for and your profile information. Nothing else.

Your scan history — if you choose to sync it — is used to generate your personal newsletter and profile insights. It is not shared, not aggregated for sale, and not used to train external AI models.

Aggregate anonymised data (e.g. "70% of biscuits scanned this month scored red") may appear in the newsletter. No individual data ever appears.

Your rights

You can request a copy of all data we hold on you at any time. You can request deletion at any time. We will action both within 7 days.

Email privacy@thehonest.food for either request. No forms. No waiting periods beyond 7 days.

Cookies

The website uses one session cookie to remember your currency preference. No tracking cookies. No advertising pixels. No third-party analytics that share your data.

We use privacy-first analytics (PostHog, EU servers) to understand which pages are useful. This data is ours only and is never shared.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see your card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing. We receive confirmation of payment and your email only.
